It’s officially fall in Northern Indiana. Our warm summer nights have transitioned into crisp cool days. The leaves have lost their vibrant greens and taken on a myriad of amber, golden and crimson hues. A few remain, clinging to trees, but most are blanketing the ground where they’ve fallen, just waiting for an eager child to rake them into piles for jumping. And right down the street, in a shop...
Burdastyle Wool Navy High Neck Cape with Gold Irish Buttons
Here is another adult cape I made this season. This cape was made with 100% wool and gold Irish buttons. I used Burdastyle’s 9/2015 #115 sewing pattern. The only change I made to the pattern were the placements of buttons/buttonholes. I also hand-stitched all the edges/hems of the cloak, instead of adding piping/bias tape trim. This cape is very warm and perfect for Notre Dame football tailgates & games in the fall!...
Tan Wool Cashmere Tailored Cape with Lapels & Collar
This fall & holiday was the season of capes! I made lots of them! (I will post more photos of capes on the blog soon.) Here is one of the adults capes, which I made for my sister. She chose the Burdastyle pattern (8/2014 #124) and tan (almost champagne) wool cashmere. It’s a tailored cape, so I used bespoke tailoring techniques for the lapels. The combination of soft, thick, and (somewhat)...
Brown Tweed and Cherry Brown Leather Asymmetrical Matching (Dinosaur Themed) Jackets
Making matching jackets with my nieces has become an annual tradition. This year Gigi requested a dinosaur jacket. This was a tall order especially since bomber jackets with dinosaur appliqués was not an option. Therefore I had to be a bit more creative with the limited materials and time I had available. I decided upon burnt orange/brown tweed wool with sequins, which remained from a previous purchase in NYC. I...
Spring Floral Jacket with Wide Collar
Here is one of the floral coats I created for one of my dearest goddaughters. I will have a few extra spring jackets available for sale on Etsy soon. The buttons used on the jackets are from a Milwaukee antique shop. These buttons are beautiful. I wish I knew who was the original owner of the buttons. Fully Lined Jacket...

This year, Gigi and I are wearing the new coats I have available for sale in my A N A G R A S S I A shop. (Read about last year’s annual “AUNTIE & ME” matching wool cashmere coats here.) The coats are made from 100% champagne wool and cognac leather. My coat (the adult style) cuffs are made from genuine cognac leather and Gigi’s (kid’s) cuffs are made with beige (100%) wool. Both coats are...
