A few years ago, I was asked to sew a dress for the lead in the musical production, Annie. I used the Simplicity 8732 Misses’ Vintage Dress sewing pattern for her dress. The girl playing Annie was about 12/13 years old, which is a tough age to fit dresses from a commercial sewing pattern. I made a mock-up before cutting the final dress.
The fabric used for the dress was a cotton velvet fabric purchased from Mood Fabrics in New York City. I added white trim details to make the dress look more playful and similar to the Annie dress seen in the 1982 film. As you can see in the photos below, I draped different trims to see which trim looked the best.
