September was just as busy as August! However, I spent the majority of my creative time doing alterations, sewing handbags, pattern making, and working on large projects.
Here is a list of some of the projects coming up in October!
I’ll likely share more details and pictures of the projects in future posts. Some of these projects are for weddings and I don’t want to give away too much ahead of time!
PROJECTS
#1) LACE & TULLE FLOWER GIRL DRESSES FOR A NOVEMBER WEDDING
After a few tries of trying to capture the bride’s design and what she envisioned, I found the right fabric and LOVE how the dresses are turning out! I can’t wait to see how these look on the day of the wedding! Not only do I enjoy making these, I’m learning more about children’s clothing through the process!
I can’t give away too much before her big day! But here is a sneak peek of the leotard!
#2) T‑SHIRT QUILT
My friend commissioned me to make her a king size t‑shirt quilt using 107 of her old t‑shirts. Currently, I’m cutting and interfacing the t‑shirts. This is one of my big projects and I’m hoping to get this done soon!
(I have a second quilt project for the month of November.)
#3) UKRAINIAN WEDDING DRESS & MEN’S UKRAINIAN SHIRT
A bride-to-be contacted me to make her Ukrainian wedding dress and her fiance’s wedding top for her Fall 2014 wedding.
The bride will hand stitch all the embroidery and lace!! I’ve seen her work and it’s quite amazing! Because of this and that it she is another young Ukrainian lady, I’m really excited about this project!
Using the pictures she gave me and details she requests, I came up with this for the first sketch. But, the design may change after the first fitting in a couple weeks.
#4) ALTERATIONS
I have a handful of dress alterations for weddings in November!
#5) MENSWEAR:DRESS PANTS
My goal is to be an expert tailor, so I’m extremely anxious about starting this project!
It’ll be quite a process, since I’ll need to shrink the wool, make the pattern, make the mock-up, have a fitting, and cut & sew the final pieces.
#6) SUEDE LEATHER PROJECT FOR LESYA
For years I’ve been promising my older sister one of my handmade pieces. We have very different tastes, so it’s hard for me to whip something up for her or give her one of my handmade handbags.
So instead of surprising her with something, she’ll design the garment using this piece of suede leather.
She hasn’t decided what she wants yet, but I’m sure it’ll be cool!
#7) DRESSES DESIGNED BY YOUNG GIRLS (FOR THEMSELVES)
I was commissioned by some future designers!
I babysit for a family with 3 young girls. Recently, the girls designed some dresses for themselves. Below are 1 of the girls designs.…don’t you love the Michigan dress?!
I’m hoping I can get these done in October!
#8) DARK EMBROIDERED UKRAINIAN DRESS FOR MY AUNT
I’m almost done with this project! I just need to make some corrections to the fit!
There will be more projects, but these are some of the big ones on my list!
Have a wonderful weekend! Good Luck Ball State and Michigan Football!
I love your posts! I live through your projects, haha. Mary was pleased with her dress hemming. You are so talented. The t‑shirt quilt is about the beginning and the end of my talents 🙂 And yes, good luck to ball state (chirp chirp) and Michigan!
Thanks! Quilting involves talent and lots of patience, so I’m impressed!
I want to see pics from your trip too!
Mary! #7 the “young ladies” dress designs made my day!!! Love it!!
Thanks Michelle!!
