Kelsey’s Champagne Nude Silk Wool and Ivory Lace Wedding Rehearsal Dress

Wedding rehearsal champagne silk wool jersey ivory alencon lace dress

As I watched Kelsey making sure every guest at her wedding was having a good time, well fed, and comfortable, I couldn’t help but smile and reminisce. Some things never change.

After my first year of college at a small private university in my hometown, I transferred to the University of Michigan. I was very nervous that I wouldn’t be able to find my place at such a large and competitive university. Yet, in my very first class at Michigan (which was a small seminar that I had no business being in…must have been fate), I met Kelsey and Michigan felt less intimidating.

Kelsey, being her kind and friendly self, came right up to me and our friendship began. We had so much in common. We were both athletes, Midwest girls, and driven. Kelsey’s friends, teammates and family quickly became my friends (and even roommates) at Michigan!

So when Kelsey asked me to make her wedding rehearsal dress, I was more than happy and thrilled to oblige! It was perfect to do this for her because she was one of my very first supporters and wristlet owners!

After looking over designs and fabrics, Kelsey and I came up with this dress design.

The dress is based off of Burdastyle’s Designer Patter 1/2014 #124. I made some adjustments to the bodice and fit of the dress.

I used ivory alencon floral lace and nude 100% silk jersey for the bodice and champagne silk/wool and silk charmeuse for the skirt.

I absolutely LOVED the bodice and upper skirt!!

Originally, all the skirt panels were silk/wool.

But unfortunately, the silk/wool panels flared out and (according to my sisters) the skirt looked very space age with the silk wool bottom half.

So ultimately, I switched out the silk/wool with a champagne silk charmeuse I found in my fabric stash. If I had more time, I would have found a different material for the lower half of the skirt! (I would’ve found a stiffer material that didn’t wrinkle easily.)

KELSEY’S REVIEW:

Anagrassia dresses are one-of-a-kind! If you are wanting a unique dress that will fit your every curve and flatter your body—no matter the shape—Anagrassia is exactly what you need. Mary Grace will sketch a design based on your preference, and her artistic perspective, and she will even involve you in the selection of the fabric if you so desire. Her clothing is stunning, classy, chic, and fun all at the same time. She made my rehearsal dress for the night before my wedding. It was nice to have a unique variation other than all white. I received so many compliments and felt like a bride!”
