At the beginning of the Covid-19 shutdown, I made batches of masks for local doctors and families until the shortage ended and I focused on helping family members in need.
I couldn’t share photos because they were a painful reminder of losing my jobs and life in NYC, and most of all the terrible isolation it forced upon all of us.
But the Communion masks are different. My customers needed them to make their First Holy Communion — a singularly transcendent event. So I resolved to help them overcome this shadow with an effusion of unexpected beauty. No longer would face masks distract. Here their beauty points towards the higher reality that even in isolation we are not alone.
“Beauty will save the world.”
