My Ukrainian heritage is visible in many of my projects, but this is the first time I’ve attempted a more authentic piece.
This linen peasant blouse is reminiscent of a blouse my babcha embroidered before she immigrated to the United States.
My mother started the embroidery this spring and I finished sewing it just in time to enter it into a contest!
The embroidered blouse is made with100% thick ivory linen. (I love this linen! It’s the same linen I used for my Easter 2015 maxi skirt.)
My mom used Charles Craft Waste Canvas
for the embroidery. She used 10 count for the cuffs and 14 count for the rest of the shirt’s embroidery. She used purple, blue, navy, green, and light blue for the embroidery floss colors.

Having never done this, I’m guessing you do embroidery first, then you cut out the pattern pieces, right?
Some of the pieces were cut ahead of time (sleeves) while other pieces were cut after the embroidery was finished (cuffs, collar, front).

да к тому же еще и ручками..это же какая работа!!
я в этом году в первые в жизни сшила и вышила вышиванку, но правда на машинке- и то долго длилось.
несколъко лет мечтала о вышиванке, да все бопялась. руками вышивать крестиком к сожалению не умею.
вышиванки просто обожаю…
