A cou­ple weeks ago, a lady asked me to (lit­er­al­ly) whip up a brides­maid dress for her!

Blue Bridesmaid Dress with Bow and Sleeves

On Sun­day, she approached me and asked if I could make her a blue brides­maid dress before her wed­ding on Sat­ur­day. Her orig­i­nal dress no longer fit her and the style/quality did­n’t suit the occasion.

I told her if she bought the fab­ric and pat­tern before Tues­day, I ‘d drop all my projects and sew the dress!

She chose a roy­al blue poly­ester (which resem­bled a thick dupi­oni silk) and  the 2444 Sim­plic­i­ty sewing pattern.

The pat­tern required no lin­ing, but we decid­ed it would be best to line the dress.  How­ev­er, the lady did­n’t buy enough lin­ing, so I only lined the bodice and sleeves. The fab­ric did­n’t need lin­ing or inter­fac­ing, so we were in luck!

This fab­ric was a breeze to cut and sew (com­pared to the fine silks I used for my sis­ter’s wedding)!

 I only had to seam rip a cou­ple small mis­takes. I was lucky to have no big hic­cups dur­ing this project!

Over­all, I was very pleased with the dress!

She looked beau­ti­ful at the wedding!
